Learn about the past, present, and future of Minnesota’s Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness (BWCA). This million acre wilderness area is known for its pristine water but is being threatened by the development of sulfide-ore copper mining within its watershed. Listen to Dr. James Colbert of Iowa State University (ISU) recount stories from his many expeditions into this wilderness, followed by Dr. Dennis Lavrov of ISU describing the BWCA’s history as well as the threats facing it today.
